Denisia Hockley
Denisia has had a diverse and colourful array of life experiences; these
include a number of years as a Federal and State policewoman after which she
devoted her time and energy to motherhood.
As an adult she entered academia and a very different life as a psychologist
and psychotherapist. Having worked with many cultures including ATSI prison
inmates, ordinary people "like you!", indigenous Australians in remote
central Australia and a variety of people who, for a time, found themselves
in psychiatric and/or personal crises.
As a psychotherapist she attended a conference in LA, USA where she pursued
her interest in the effects of childhood experience on adult life
consequences.
Her research has predominantly revolved around childhood and the effect of
various styles of parenting as well as childhood experiences of
emotional/psychological/ physical and sexual abuse.
She possesses an innate ability to connect with clients/people who for some
reason or another find themselves at a time in life where counselling and/or
psychotherapy can help them move forward to a happier more productive life.
An excellent and very 'user friendly' facilitator she runs group programs
(authored and manualised by herself). These programs are guaranteed to be
fun as well as efficacious. She also holds Certificate IV in workplace
training and assessment.
She has extensive experience with those experiencing clinical psychiatric
disorders which may include PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, Phobias, and
Relationship Issues. Above all, as a client of hers you can be assured of
respect, empathy and genuine understanding.
